lite: ChaoticMUX 10 year anniversary?
Cross-posted to lite
At one point, a couple of years back, kareila
was suggesting it might be neat to get all the old (and current!) ChaoticMUX players together for a sort of ten year anniversary. I think, more specifically, we all planned to congregate somewhere sort of in the middle (not the east coast, nor the west coast), though, at one point, Las Vegas was suggested because it's relatively cheat to stay there.
It occurs to me.. that.. next year would be that ten year anniversary.
So... out of curioisity... because there probably is the time, now, to start planning and putting the money together for something like that for next summer.
Who would be interested?

I'm interested given all the usual disclaimers.

I'm interested, in theory.

I can't make any promises this far ahead of time, but I'm certainly interested, if it's possible.

In theory I'd be interested. In practice, that'd be a Big Trip for us, and I don't think I'd even know half the people there now :(

I understand it would be especially hard, going from Scotland to..wherever, but, if you can, think about it :)
You'd finally get to meet me, Kareila, many others you'd love to meet, to hang with us, personally :) It'd be COOL! :)

This sounds like a great idea to me, though I'm not sure how mobile I'm going to be with a new baby in tow, both for financial and logistical purposes. I'd probably be able to swing it if it were somewhere east-coast based, but I'm not sure about anything else.
Vegas is a great location, but about a 5 hour flight from here. Plus, it's WAY more expensive in the summertime than it is in the spring, winter or fall. As for other "middle of the country" locations, the airfare to get to places in the midwest or central US are actually higher than fares from coast-to-coast.

We'll see... if I have the vacation time and the money, I'll probably be up for that :)

Hmm. Sounds fun. If it's in Vegas or somewhere within driving distance of Arizona (California, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico are pretty much the only other places), there's a slim chance I'd be able to make it. Otherwise, nope.
Then again, since I know of at least one other online gathering, this may be the summer I actually do the whole road trip thing. I've been wanting to do one for years now. Though given my luck with summer and cars, I'd be stranded in the middle of nowhere with an overheating car. :P

I'd definitely be interested, as long as it doesn't interfere with AbuseFest (and no, I'm not sure when that'll be yet, but probably around the end of May or beginning of June, as it was this year).

David and I would be up for it! After all, we kind of owe Chaotic a LOT.
If Las Vegas was the place...We have a two-bedroom living suite timeshare there (our wedding gift to ourselves...er...the gift that keeps on costing :) oh well, we got a fantastic deal), so if someone couldn't afford to stay for a few days we might be able to rig something. As for airfare, one of the plusses about Las Vegas is you can very often get incredibly cheap airfares...the casinos subsidize them to get you to come and gamble.
How would we go about planning this sort of thing? Let us know if there's anything we can do to help...
...er...maybe log on once in a while...bad dessie!

tricia: Super duper delayed response to this post...
Yeah, someone should remind me!
Especially if you're going to be doing it in Vegas. :)
